Academy 18s Earn Draw In First Showcase Match

The US Development Academy Showcase in Sarasota, Florida kicked off play on Wednesday. The Baltimore Bays Chelsea Academy 18s opened up play against MLS Columbus Crew 18s and earned a 2-2 draw. Down 2-0 heading into the last 20 minutes of the match, Bays midfielder Guillermo Almirall found Bays forward Matt Bragg with a pass that Bragg converted for a goal to pull the Bays within one. Late in the match, Almirall chipped a ball over the back line that found Bay Midfielder Eric Spalt on a diagonal run. Spalt took his first touch to the goal then finished for the equalizer.

The 18s will now face St Louis Scott Gallagher @ 10AM on Thursday.

 

The Baltimore Bays Academy 18s and 16s will take part in the 2013 Developmental Academy Winter Showcase that will run from Dec. 9th-15th at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

The Development Academy Winter Showcase is the pinnacle of the Academy Fall Season as most college coaches from across the country representing D1, D2 and D3 will be on hand to evaluate players.

The Bays 18 Academy team schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, Dec 11th @ 10AM vs Columbus Crew of Ohio
Thursday, Dec 12th @ 10AM vs St Louis Scott Gallagher
Saturday, Dec 14th @ 9AM vs San Jose Earthquakes


The Bays 16 Academy team schedule is as follows:
Thursday, Dec 12th vs Seattle Sounders @ 3:30PM
Friday, Dec 13th vs Columbus Crew of Ohio @ Noon
Sunday, Dec 15th vs Weston FC of Florida @ 9AM
